EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) is a policy that was initiated in 2016 and has been made mandatory from this year 2018 only for all the importers of Electronic and Electrical Equipments in India.
It is not only an act but a whole process in itself. It will help all the Producers, Importers, Manufacturers and Traders to upgrade our Environment by doing E-Waste Recycling. EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) is mandatory for all the person who are importing Electronic and Electrical Equipments (EEE) and their spare parts in India.
The act has been issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) regarding e-waste management and proper channelization of products that are being introduced in our market. CPCB has made it mandatory to have the EPR Authorization by all the importers of EEE (Electronic and Electrical Equipments). In EPR Authorization companies need to have an agreement with Recycler and also get registered in PRO (Producer Responsibility Organization).
By having EPR Companies will be able to channelize their products and have a proper check on their products till the end of their life. EPR holders will also update the consumers and other person that they are now being a part of the E-Waste Recycling and they are being attached with the same. By doing this we will make a healthy and pure environment for ourselves and for our future generations.
